John Francis McAlevey was born in Brooklyn, New York,  to John F. and Florence (McVarish) McAlevey.

Married Hazel Edna Hansen, June 11, 1949 (dec. December 1969); children: Peter, Benedict, Catherine, John, Thomas, Birgitta, and Jane. Married Marlene Rotbert, July 7, 1976; children: Mitchell Rotbert, Clifford Rotbert.

Now A Captain.  John McAlevey, recently elected Captain of Bay Ridge Post Squadron, is one of the most active members of the organization.  He’s a member of Troop 105, Boy Scouts of America, Bay Ridge Squadron Drum and Bugle Corps, and the Junior Mounted Squadron of Kings County American Legion.  He was an honor Graduate of St. Agatha’s School and is now a pupil at Erasmus Hall High School .  He lives with his parents at 3915 7th Ave.
